Overview:
The Department of Applied Human Sciences at the University of Minnesota Duluth seeks to add one full time (100%) tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor within its Environmental and Outdoor Education/Children & Nature Studies program and the Master of Environmental Education program. Responsibilities include teaching relevant courses such as: children and nature; theoretical foundations; program development and evaluation; research methods; curriculum development; and education methodology. Also, serving the campus/community/profession through committee membership or other leadership; interactions with diverse audiences (e.g., BIPOC communities); mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; and serving on graduate thesis committees.
The Department of Applied Human Sciences (AHS) is one of five departments within the College of Education and Human Service Professions. AHS is the department home to nearly 40 full-time and part-time faculty members with teaching and research interests in multiple degree programs: Public Health, Physical Education, Exercise Science, and Environmental and Outdoor Education.
The curriculum of the degree programs reflects the accreditation standards of the various disciplines. Students graduate from these degree programs with a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree. There are currently over 500 majors enrolled in the degree programs offered by the department. The students in the programs come from Minnesota, Wisconsin, across the Midwest and nationally and internationally. Our department strongly supports international educational opportunities.
