Overview:

Assists with office work including maintaining medical records and confidential camper information files; managing, distributing, and tracking an extensive library of craft and sciences supplies, animal artifacts, and print and video media; managing and distributing camper supplies; assisting with camp safety issues; supervising campers when teacher is not present; and interacting with parents and Zoo staff. This position requires attending a mandatory FONZ orientation from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on either June 2 or June 9, 2020. This position requires being present at work every Monday – Friday between Monday June 15 and August 14, 2020 (9 week season). This position’s work hours are either 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. Must be able to take public transportation to and from work; on-site parking is not available for seasonal staff.

Reports to: Summer Safari Day Camp Director and Assistant Director

Job Requirements:

  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Education: At least one year of college.
  • Experience: One year office experience and one year experience with children.
  • Valid Driver’s License Required.

 

Abilities and Skills:

1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
2. Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, comfortable learning   new computer skills quickly.
3. Ability to effectively supervise children.
4. Organizational skills.
5. Detail oriented.
6. Work independently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This position provides administrative support to the Summer Safari Day Camp staff. Duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Maintain inventory of camp supplies including water bottles, baseball hats, camp snacks, and first aid supplies.
2. Review, stock, and deliver weekly teacher supplies based on program request forms.
3. Ensure that camp teachers and administrative staff are properly equipped with weekly attendance rosters, medical files, and necessary forms.
4. Keep all classrooms clean, organized, and stocked with appropriate supplies, water, and snacks.
5. Use a golf cart to deliver supplies, transport campers and staff, and efficiently move from location to another throughout the Zoo.
Supervise Summer Safari campers during teacher breaks.
Assist in developing and leading activities for the daily morning meeting.
6. Provided excellent customer service via phone, email, and in-person to Summer Safari Day Camp families.
7. Other duties as assigned.
