Overview:

Schedule/Summer dates:

  • May 14-June 22, 2018; 20 hours during that time for program preparation (Monday - Friday dates)
  • June 25 - June 29, 2018; 40 hours; program training with Educators
  • July 2 - August 24, 2018; program runs; up to 40 hours per week

Pay Rate: $20 per hour; non-exempt

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan, and implement a specialty nature camp program for children aged 6-12
  • In conjunction with other nature camp staff, develop environmental education and stewardship curriculum for this age group
  • Plan and teach themed lessons about Water and Wildlife, Bugs and Insects, Plants and Trees, Essentials for Survival, and Maps and Compasses
  • Work and train staff to ensure the care and safety of participants
  • Design and implement a program budget and conduct purchasing for the program
  • Design a weekly calendar of activities and snack menus
  • Maintain positive relationships with familities, staff and the public
  • Hire and supervise staff, manage budget, and oversee all administrative processes associated with running the camp
  • Work in partnership with city staff to manage registration paperwork intake, payments, and waitlists
  • Create staff schedules and administrater scheduled breaks
  • Complete required administrative reports, such as attendance and activity logs, accident/incident reports, timesheets and evaluations
  • Serve as a point of contact for families, participants and staff
  • Work in ratio and deliver program to participants

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • BA/BS Degree in Environmental Education Science, Natural Resource Management Education or equivalent preferred
  • Must have 2+ years of experience working in child-related programs  
  • Must have 3-5 years supervisory and/or mentorship experience
  • Must have demonstrated working experience with familites, community members and partners to foster positive relationships
  • Must have a valid WA state drivers license and clear a driving history record from DOL upon hire
  • Must successfully complete a background check

This is a summer non-benefitted position.  Hours willl vary and may be scheduled between 07:00am - 6:00pm.
