Overview:
Camp Counselor: Tiny Trackers:
The Tiny Trackers Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing programs and experiences for children ages 4-5, in the half day camp. After campers leave, counselors will also be responsible for planning and implementing the weekly “All Camp” activities. Maximum 10 campers. Must be at least 18 years old.
Camp Counselor: Explorers:
The Explorer Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing programs and experiences for children ages 5-11, divided by ages. Must be at least 18 years old.
Camp Counselor: Naturalists:
The Naturalist Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing programs and experiences for children ages 11-13. On Wednesdays campers will take a field trip to a local venue, which may include kayaking, climbing, hiking, or a museum visit. Counselors will drive the mini-van. On Thursdays campers will camp out in the Arboretum. Counselors will be responsible for campers during the overnight. Must be at least 25 years old.
Camp Counselor: Naturalists/Adventurers:
The Naturalists/Adventurer Camp Counselor will run four weeks of Naturalist groups (see above) and three weeks of Adventurer groups. The Adventurer counselor is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing programs and experiences for children ages 13-15. On Thursdays campers will camp depart for a 2-day off-site field trip with overnight. These trips consist of hiking and camping. Counselors will be responsible for campers during the overnight. Counselors will drive the mini-van for all off-site excursions. Must be at least 25 years old.
Camp Counselor: Leadership Counselor:
The Leadership Counselor is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing the Leaders In Training (LIT) program. This position will provide mentoring to LITs to develop their leadership skills and confidence, as well as teach outdoor and survival skills and facilitate appropriate group-building exercises and leadership lessons. LITs will participate in on-site and offsite overnights, as well as field trips. Counselors will drive the mini-van for all off-site excursions. The Leadership Counselor will also run 2 weeks of Adventurer groups (see above for details). Must be at least 25 years old.
Nature Education Specialist:
The Nature Education Specialist is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing a variety of environmentally based programs for children ages 4-15. This position will use environmental lessons as a catalyst to develop life skills in youth. Experience facilitating team building initiatives, experiential learning, and an understanding of Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle desired. Must be at least 18 years old.
Operations Leader:
The Summer Camp Operations Leader completes a variety of tasks in a variety of different capacities to help make camp a success. Serve as camp counselor for 2 weeks during camp (refer to Counselor description for more information). Go on all field trips with the Leaders In Training (LIT) group including high ropes course, off-site overnight camping and primitive camping in the natural lands. Support counselors with the daily needs of camp, including assisting with camper behavior problems, logistics and program prep. Fill in for a counselor if someone is sick or absent. Mentor counselors and help them to grow as leaders. Help to create a community environment to help youth and staff gain a sense of belonging. Drive the mini-van for any offsite outings which you participate in. Must be at least 25 years old.
