Overview:

The Battle Creek Outdoor Education Center, Clear Lake Camp, is a seasonal fall and spring outdoor education center owned by the Battle Creek Public Schools. We also run a small summer day camp. Outdoor Education Instructors are teachers and camp counselors for the 5th and 6th grade students attending our 3, 4, or 5 day programs. Instructors lead teambuilding challenge activities, outdoor pursuits such as cookouts and canoeing, and ecology classes such as pond study and nature hikes. Instructors rotate into a dormitory supervision position once every few weeks throughout the season. When on dorm duty instructors have the morning and afternoon off. 

Each instructor is provided housing in either a private cabin or private bedroom in a cabin. 

Candidates must have prior experience working with children, preferably in a camp or educational setting. Must have some college experience. Prefer bachelors degree. Basic First Aid and CPR certification required by first day of work.

Compensation Information:

$70 per day first season. Increases for second and third seasons. 

Housing provided during residential school camp season, and available year-round in exchange for volunteer work. 

Food provided during staff training (breakfast and lunch) and when kitchen is cooking meals for groups. Staff kitchenette available for weekends or other down times. 

Wi-fi available in main lodge.
