Agency Details: Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation department is a CAPRA-accredited, Gold Medal-winning agency. This position is based out of Latta Nature Center (Quest) in Huntersville, NC, although staff may be called upon to work at other sites throughout the county.

Position details: February through October, not to exceed 999 hours. Part-time schedule (20-30 hours) in spring and fall; full-time (35-40 hrs) June through August. Includes work on weekends, evenings, and holidays. $12.64/hour.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and present environmental education, outdoor adventure, and summer day camp programs to include extensive hiking, canoeing, and other physically demanding activities.
• Assist with the care and feeding of exhibit and program animals.
• Assist with customer service duties including answering visitor questions and working the cash register.
• Present programs on weekends, evenings, or holidays as assigned.
• Assist with special events, garden maintenance, and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications: Qualified applicants must have completed or be working towards a BS/BA degree in one of the following fields: natural/environmental sciences, environmental education, recreation or related field.
