Overview:
Family Science Nights are a signature science outreach program of Children’s Discovery Museum designed to encourage children and their caregivers to experience the fun and magic of science exploration in a relaxed community setting. These interactive programs, which take place on school campuses during weekday evenings, encourage children and their caregivers to embrace curiosity as they experience science together through engaging themed activities.
The Science Outreach Educator will have overall responsibility for scheduling, communications, and facilitation of Family Science Nights as well as maintenance of activity kits including purchasing supplies and coordinating materials preparation. Successful program implementation requires organization and attention to detail, flexibility, the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of participants, and a passion for sharing the excitement of science through inquiry and play.
As part of the Education Department’s Science and Environment Team, the Science Outreach Educator will also find creative opportunities for activity development and participation in wider museum initiatives, and the chance to lead field-based environmental science lessons in the onsite garden or along nearby creeks.
Children’s Discovery Museum is a non-profit, hands-on learning environment dedicated to fostering a child’s innate curiosity about the world. We provide exhibits and programs that inspire creativity, curiosity, and lifelong learning, inviting the child in all of us to explore with confidence.
