Overview:
- Helping to coordinate logistics for field days and SCUBA diving;
- Organizing and management of equipment and gear;
- Oversee the Phytoplankton sampling protocols on a weekly basis;
- Entering, organizing, and processing data and sample collections;
- Manage a Research Intern and oversee their workload and direction;
- Work with our Science Educators to integrate our research efforts with our on-Island education programs and deliver them to diverse audiences;
- Occasionally write-up research findings and reports;
- Help the Aquaculture Manager support our operation through field and community work;
- Conducting additional fieldwork as necessary;
- Splitting time spent on Hurricane Island, out in the field, and in our Rockland office;
- Participating as a full member of HICSL’s intentional community, including:
- Following and enforcing campus policies and community expectations;
- Welcoming visitors to the island and communicating about HICSL’s mission and work;
- Participating in community tasks including daily and weekly chores;
- Performing other duties relating to the organization’s goals and mission as required.

This is a paid, contracted position without benefits. Employees receive full room and board on Hurricane Island for the entirety of their contracted employment, in addition to their pay.
