Cocoplum Nature School is seeking a part-time reading teacher for Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. Qualified candidates will possess a degree in elementary education and either a certification in reading or qualifications from Orton Gillingham or Lindamood-Bell. Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and English, who have experience teaching in primary grades, and who have experience in nature schools, forest schools, or Reggio Emilia schools.

Cocoplum Nature School is Delray Beach's newest private school and the only nature school in Palm Beach County. At Cocoplum, children learn in, from, and about nature, and all subject areas are integrated through their first-hand experiences and play in mixed age groups. Explicit reading skills are taught in small groups a few times per week depending upon children's skill levels and needs. The reading teacher will be responsible for:

• assessing children's skills and needs
• determining the composition and meeting schedule for small groups
• agile lesson planning and instruction informed by and responsive to children's needs
• documentation of skill development
• developing targeted and individualized reading activity invitations
• collaborating with Cocoplum facilitators

Successful Cocoplum teachers are adaptive, creative, compassionate, fun, and collaborative. The successful reading teacher will support children in their progress from pre-literate to reading with age appropriate fluency and comprehension.

Schedule: 12 hours per week, mornings with flexible hours, Monday through Thursday

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate commensurate with education and experience
