Our Education department has an opening for a Programs Coordinator. Programs Coordinators engage audiences about the wonders of our earth and the animals with whom we share it by giving people of all ages the opportunity to explore nature and the Zoo in a fun, hands-on and exciting way. Zoo Programs Coordinators design, coordinate, assist with and/or facilitate field trip programs including Guided Tours, Wild Workshops, Animal Discoveries, and Teacher Workshops. He or she is responsible for efficient and effective logistical operations of these and other field trip programs. Our Programs Coordinator will work under the direction of the Field Trip & Teacher Programs Supervisor to develop high quality nature-based experiences and design inquiry-based curricula for family programs. This position also assists with Camp Zoo, Winter Camp, and other educational programs as needed.

Minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in biology/environmental science, environmental education, or early childhood and /or elementary education, minimum 1 year experience coordinating informal group experiences, experience creating and facilitating standards-based curriculum for preschool and elementary age children, and knowledge of child development. This position requires strong organizational and computer skills, and ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends.

All Phoenix Zoo employees are required to pass pre-employment background checks including a drug test, this position will also require annual TB testing and a valid driver’s license.
