Overview:
Seeking an individual to extend the results of Sea Grant research on coastal problems to local, state and federal agencies and interest groups; work with a wide range of entities to promote education on coastal and climate change issues, and develop new programs to meet regional and national needs. The incumbent will interpret and disseminate research results aimed at meeting the needs of public policy makers and researchers at the federal, state and local level; work with other specialists at USC, the UC Sea Grant Cooperative Extension Network, extension professionals in the National Sea Grant Network, and others with responsibility in marine and coastal resource and environmental management, along with numerous stakeholder groups, including municipal authorities, state agency officials, landowner and watershed groups, NGOs, and others concerned with natural resource and hazard management in marine and coastal regions. The incumbent will collaborate with faculty, scientists and other extension professionals by providing training, developing collaborative programs, and disseminating research results; provide information and expertise to state, federal and local agencies in the design and implementation of policy related to marine and coastal natural resources, including air, water, climate, biodiversity, and land use; maintain as well as developing new partnerships with private marine and coastal industries; evaluate the tradeoffs and synergies between community growth and resource protection, particularly as they relate to environmental resources in coastal communities; evaluate the effectiveness of alternative behavioral and institutional strategies for marine and coastal resource and environmental management. This position will require travel throughout Southern California, with occasional trips to meetings and conferences in California and throughout the US.

This is a fullātime, grant funded position.
Preferred Education: Master's degree
Preferred Experience: 3 years
Preferred Field of Expertise:
Master's degree or equivalent in marine sciences, oceanography, marine/coastal resources or
environmental policy/management, or resource economics.
