ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Train student leaders (high school & college volunteers) to be effective cabin group leaders.
• Supervise and engage with students and student leaders during all cabin time activities and transitions ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times. This includes role modeling effective time management while leading games, songs, initiatives in a fun, friendly, and professional manner.
• Lead students and student leaders in daily activities, i.e., recreation, campfire programs, and mealtime duties (table setting, dining hall clean-up, recycling, composting, etc.).
• Participate in all phases of the program as assigned (field study support, recreation, campfire programs, etc.)
• Collaborate with the Program Team and all staff to ensure the wellbeing of students and student leaders.
• Prepare and organize all materials needed for daily activities.
• Evaluate the performance of high school and college volunteers orally and in writing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school graduate with some college study and/or post-high school work experience
• Paid or volunteer experience in Outdoor School, summer camp or other residential camp programs preferred
• Exhibit enthusiasm, maturity, compassion, responsibility, flexibility, and initiative
• Able to work dependably both as an individual and as a member of a close-knit team
• Desire and ability to work successfully with children and adults in a residential work environment
• Enjoy being outdoors in all types of weather
• Strong recommendations from previous work and/or volunteer experiences
