BACKGROUND
NorthBay Education is a non-profit organization providing large-scale, innovative education programs to public school students. Headquartered in North East Maryland, NorthBay is the largest program of its kind, serving middle school students from Maryland and surrounding states with the goal of transforming lives and inspiring action by fundamentally changing the way students experience and engage in education.
NorthBay is seeking a full time NorthBay Accelerated Program Coordinator within the Education Department to lead the implementation and growth of this innovative new program. This position can be based remotely in Maryland with regular travel to the NorthBay campus and school partners required and is available immediately. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic organization while leading and growing a unique and innovative new, statewide education program. This is a new NorthBay program starting in summer 2021 with the support of the Maryland State Department of Education and will serve up to 1,000 middle school students each school year. The program is a combination of residential learning experiences at the NorthBay campus and ongoing virtual tutoring, with the goal of improving literacy rates and social emotional development. The Accelerated Coordinator is responsible for handling the logistics, scheduling, and communicating with partners for the delivery and growth of this exciting new program.
NorthBay is looking for a highly motivated, personable individual with excellent organizational and communication skills. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who can work independently and effectively within a team. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of all aspects of the Maryland public education system ideally with experience coordinating and growing programs in the education field and or teaching experience in public school settings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists with all administrative duties associated with the program
- Responsible for coordinating the scheduling of tutoring programs with partner schools and agencies
- Responsible for coordinating logistics and schedules to deliver social emotional learning experiences to students in their school environment
- Responsible for working with schools to ensure all necessary paperwork and forms are completed
- Ability to understand and communicate with stakeholders from various backgrounds about the program
- Ability to develop and manage complex schedules happening in conjunction with other programs
- Ability to build relationships with school and partners to deliver the program
- Be an active team player that works collaboratively and promotes high engagement and expectation for all members
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual in Spanish (verbal and written) strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, administration, or related field required
- Minimum 5 years in a related field required
- Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written. Must be an excellent communicator.
- Excellent project management skills, delivering to tight deadlines with exceptional attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to handle a fast paced, multi-task environment while working effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Skilled with the use of Microsoft Office and/or the Google Office suite
- Creative, flexible and highly adaptable to evolving needs of program implementation
- Sound understanding of the Maryland state middle school standards of learning and curriculum
- Experience in the administration of education programs/schools preferred
