Overview:
Essential Responsibilities:
- Evaluates professional development needs for park educators through assessment, needs analysis, surveying, and consultation with appropriate parties
- Inventorying and leveraging existing professional development opportunities currently offered by PYC member organizations
- Develops structure and purpose of learning communities (peer support, coaching/mentoring, delivery of trainings, direct program application of concepts)
- Develops professional development plans and pathways and related implementation strategy (scoping and sequencing) of trainings
- Establishes PYC-wide group learning objectives and goals for park educators and develop training outlines, timelines, and assessment tools
- Oversees the logistical requirements associated with professional development events and activities including schedules, registration, staffing, publicity, rooms, supplies, and equipment
- Facilitates the use of a broad range of traditional and technology approaches such as formal group and individual training, coaching, web-based programs, e-Learning systems, and interactive video into the professional development program
- Develops methods and tools, collects data, and evaluates the effectiveness of professional development activities and participation; prepares reports and recommendations related to outcomes and possible improvements
- Prepares unit budget requests and manages expenditures in a manner consistent with PYC values and decision-making processes
- Gathers resources and shares external trainings that supplements additional professional development outside of PYC training plans
- Manages, maintains and updates library (on site and digital) of educational resources and materials available to all PYC educators; creates inventory list and system for borrowing
- Assists in delivery of trainings as well as coordinating and employing internal staff trainers and external trainers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 4+ years of:
- Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
- Proven work experience as a Training Coordinator, Trainer, Training Facilitator, Instructional Coach, or similar role
- Hands-on experience coordinating multiple training events in a professional setting
- Experience coordinating teams and working in a collaborative setting
- 3+ years of:
- Experience applying equity and inclusion practices as part of a training plan and implementation
- Experience working with marginalized audiences (youth of color, low-wealth communities, students with IEPs or 504 plans, etc.) in an educational setting
- Experience working with and engaging staff from diverse backgrounds and levels of skills
- Extensive knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design theory and implementation
- Adequate knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools
- Ability to differentiate didactic and experiential learning strategies, familiarity with traditional and modern job training methods and techniques with the ability to incorporateĀ multicultural and multiple learning styles
- Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Experience working in a dynamic setting and ability to respond to last-minute requests
- Demonstrates a passion for outdoor education, learning and developing others.
