We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic educator to run a new environmental education program for underserved children in LCPS schools. We seek a strong candidate with experience teaching preschool children, a love of nature and the outdoors, and a desire to help young children learn about and connect with the environment.  Individuals who are active and comfortable exploring the outdoors in all types of weather are desired.Flexibility, reliability, and organizational skills are key .

Natural history knowledge and experience is a plus.

Applicant must have a degree in education or an education-related field and at least two years of experience working with young children.

The ideal candidate will:

• Engage in positive interactions with classroom teachers
• Collaborate with the NOVA ANS team to develop nature-based curriculum
• Interact and educate children at their physical and mental level
• Handle all communications with classroom teachers
• Be familiar with High Scope Curriculum, Houghton and Mifflin Pre-K: Where Bright Futures Begin, and VA Standards of Learning.
• Design activities that are child-initiated and cover physical, social/emotional, linguistic, and cognitive development
• Order, organize, and keep inventory of educational materials
• Schedule and execute 4 one-hour seasonal lessons to at least 20 classes
• Help create, organize, and run a teacher training in the spring of 2019
• Shadow and support ANS education team with additional Pre K programming in NOVA as needed

This is a 9-month teaching position for the 2018-2019 school year. The position is part time,

 15 hours per week, and will start August 13, 2018.
