Overview:

The Outreach Educator is primarily responsible for providing off-site nature education programs to 1st grade students throughout the state of Utah.

Responsibilities Include:

Provide environmental education programming to first grade students throughout the state of Utah
Transport materials and animals for programming using company vehicle
Assist with on-site education programs as assigned, including school programs, preschool programs, summer camps and community programs
Help train education animals for educational presentations
Assist in maintaining accurate records of education programs, materials, travel expenses and mileage reports
Participate in events and fundraisers
Assist with PR opportunities, including booths at community events
Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree or higher in environmental education, wildlife biology, education, or related field preferred. 
Prior handling of small reptiles and experience in informal education is highly desirable.  
Must be able to hold and move birds of prey, snakes and other wildlife safely. 
Must be able to lift 25 pounds, walk up to one mile on uneven terrain in all weather conditions, and speak to large groups.  
Enjoys working with people of all ages and has excellent interpersonal skills
Must be articulate, with good writing skills
Highly organized
Computer proficient (Word, Excel, email)
Love working and being outdoors

Requirements:

Must be able to work occasional evenings and Saturdays

Must be a US citizenship or be a lawful permanent resident

Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record

Must be able to perform strenuous outdoor work under all weather conditions

Must pass a background check

The Outreach Educator is a full time non-exempt position.  Some evenings, weekends and travel required.
