Overview:
Tin Mountain Conservation Center, a not for profit environmental education center based in the Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire, is currently hiring for an outreach coordinator.
The Outreach Coordinator will create, schedule and deliver programs to the public at Tin Mountain Conservation Center (TMCC) and within the greater Mount Washington Valley, related to our mission of promoting an appreciation of the natural environment among children, adults, and families through hands on programs in the schools, at camps, and in the community. Programs demonstrate responsible stewardship of natural resources through land protection, research, sustainable forestry, and agriculture.
Specific Duties
- Increase on-site programming, including weekly guided hikes, parent/child programs, stewardship courses, citizen science projects, and larger indoor gatherings.
- Open TMCC on weekends offering a variety of programs to the general public on site.
- Research and develop payment system for all sanctuaries such as Iron Rangers, QR codes
- Increase outreach programming in the community
- Work with business members to include programming at their site.
- Increase diversity outreach with a variety of groups to expand inclusion at TMCC.
- Teach KITE units as necessary in busy periods, (Fall and Spring)
- Integrate research activities with public programming
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree minimum, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience in the environmental field
- First aid training (Wilderness First Responder Certification preferred)
- Ability to do moderate level outdoor exercise
- Must pass Criminal Background Check
- Strong naturalists’ skills and understanding of New England natural history
- Strong organizational skills necessary with regard to developing, coordinating and scheduling programs, projects, maintaining files, reports and databases.
