Summary:

Do you want to make a lasting difference in someone’s life?  Are you passionate about God’s creation and sharing that love with children?  Then working at Camp Wesley Woods is for you!  Just outside of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Camp Wesley Woods runs high-quality outdoor education programming during the fall and spring seasons, for both public and private schools.  We also run a faith-based summer camp for eight weeks in the summer.  We are currently hiring enthusiastic instructors to be part of our dynamic team for nine months, working across three seasons and different camp program areas.  The position runs Monday, February 20 through Friday, November 17, 2017 and includes staff training.  Salary is $270 to $300 per week, commensurate with experience; onsite lodging and most meals are included.

Major Duties:

• Teach standards-based environmental education classes
• Lead high ropes courses, climbing, and challenge courses
• No overnight supervision of students required, but facilitation of some evening activities and programs needed
• Meal-time direction
• Housekeeping
• Some weekends required
• Opportunity to gain leadership skills, such as staff scheduling and training

Qualifications:

• Experience working with children and adapting programs to various ages
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Active Christian faith, as we are a ministry of the United Methodist Church
• Due to the nature of this position’s work with children, applicants will be subject to criminal background checks and motor vehicle record disclosure.
