Overview:
For years, Nature’s Classroom New England has been running residential Outdoor Education programs throughout New England and New York. When the pandemic hit, we had to pause our overnight programs. Faced with shutting down the program indefinitely and just packing it in, we opted to get creative. We rounded up some flexible, passionate staff, adapted the program and hit the road to bring our program to the schools!
During the school week, we drive out to schools to provide single or multi-day programs mostly for 4th-8th grade students. Your work day will be the same as a normal school day, varying a bit from school to school, but generally done by 3:00. As an instructor, you would teach a group of 10-14 students at time on topics ranging from wilderness survival skills to simulations designed to demonstrate human ecological impact. Our curriculum has been honed by decades of environmental education innovation and adapted for flexibility with the N.O.W program. A week of paid training and orientation is included in the dates listed below. We are looking for adventurous and passionate educators eager to grow their own knowledge while making a positive impact on the world through the lives of children!
Salary is $100 per day
Mileage rate is $.45/mile with carpooling perks
