Overview:

The successful candidate will coordinate all project activities associated with ongoing work on the North Carolina coast.  We will be partnering with Duke Marine Lab to deliver and evaluate citizen-science based environmental education to students in coastal NC. We are interested in how the curriculum may build environmental literacy and interest in STEM careers among students, as well as encourage use of citizen science in classrooms.  Additionally, students will participate in a community outreach project, and we will evaluate how these projects might impact how adults in the community think about environmental issues.  Tasks associated with the project include survey design, participant recruitment, data collection and analysis, and leading associated peer-reviewed publications. 

Compensation Information:

$18,000 annually, tuition, health insurance;  Assumes 20 hours dedicated to the project and 20 hours dedicated to coursework.
