Seeking a dynamic lead Kindergarten teacher with at least 16 ECE units, a Bachelor’s Degree, and Waldorf early childhood teachers training if not complete then in process. A strong understanding of child development, developmentally appropriate practices, mixed aged kindergartens, and Forest Kindergartens. A capacity for parent communication and ability to form community, hold gatherings and festivals. The ideal candidate has had experience in leading a Forest Kindergarten, loves the natural world and is confident in the wilderness; loves animals; and is looking to be part of a conscious community of children and parents. Self motivated and self reflective. Creative problem solver. Capable of gardening, domestic arts, creative arts, and food preparation. Knowledge of the practice of Nonviolent parenting, principles of anti-biased education, and Spanish a plus but not required.

A capacity for administrating your own classroom is needed with knowledge of basic computer use and programs. Prep time, curriculum development, professional development, parent communication, and community gatherings are expected.

Village Playgarden is a farm-based mixed-age forest kindergarten in our 12th year of existence. Our community cares for children 2 year to 6 years old. This is a beautiful, peaceful, and respectful place to work. We are located on a 2 acre regenerative farmlette at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains with trails leading off the property abutting a wildlife interface zone. The farmlette produces seasonal bounty and is home to many animals.

We are located in Altadena, 10 minutes from the city of Pasadena, a small cosmopolitan city with a diverse population and many amenities and interests. We are minutes from the Pasadena Waldorf School.
