Overview:

The City of Austin, Minnesota is seeking a highly motivated, energetic individual for a full year intern/teacher/naturalist position at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center, a division of our park and recreation department. The ideal candidate would be able to start as soon as January 2, 2020, although we are willing to consider other timelines as well.

The successful candidate will teach environmental, conservation and outdoor education to all ages with a primary emphasis on children preschool through 7th grade; welcome visitors; feed and handle critters; present radio programs; write press releases; participate in major events such as the summer water festival, summer adventure programs, Halloween warm-up and Thanksgiving feast.

Workweek is typically 40 hours per week and will include Saturdays or Sundays. Intern will earn public employment retirement contribution (PERA) and is eligible for health insurance benefits. Employment is contingent upon the satisfactory results of a background investigation.
