Overview:
At the Fiddleheads Forest School, we believe that children are intrinsically motivated to learn and that they do so by exploring the world around them. We aim to foster a sense of wonder, to guide rather than compel, and to provide room for possibility rather than attempt to constrain children’s interests to fit within a single curriculum. Our goal is to create an ideal setting for students ages 3-5 to grow into citizens of the world, with respect for all cultures and environments and the desire to engage with their communities. We are so excited to announce that we are currently hiring for a lead teaching position. This is a wonderful resume-building opportunity to join the staff of Seattle’s first entirely outdoor preschool, a nationally renowned program at the University of Washington. We are looking for teaching candidates who are enthusiastic, flexible and committed to our mission of fostering equity in early childhood education and a strong community through connection to the natural world.
- Position starts at .75 FTE
- Salary is commensurate with experience
- In addition to our forest classrooms, teachers have access to office and greenhouse space on site, as well as extensive on-site support for teachers.
- Timeline: Applications will be reviewed as they come in.
- The successful candidate for this position will have a wealth of experience leading a preschool classroom, a deep connection to the natural world, and a strong desire to share that appreciation with the public to promote environmental conservation through education and recreation. Further requirements and information are included with our application.
