Overview:
Qualifications:
• Minimum of Master's Degree in science, education or related field
• Varied experience teaching in both formal (K-12) and informal (outdoor/environmental education) settings
• Experience creating, implementing, and evaluating field science curriculum
• Experience coaching and evaluating educators in the development of their teaching practice
• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external constituents
• Ability to work both independently and cooperatively on a team
• Ability to manage risk and make leadership decisions in front and backcountry settings
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
• Primarily Kelly Campus of Teton Science Schools with potential meetings/interactions/work on all campuses locations
• Stretches of time outdoors in all weather, including extreme temperatures and arid conditions
• May be expected to work evenings, weekends or overtime to support special programs/events
• Time spent hiking/camping in front- and back-country settings
• Carry a backpack of 20+ lbs for 8 hours a day over uneven terrain
• Able to drive 15 passenger vans & minibuses with participants
Responsibilities:
50% Field Education Programming
• Train, evaluate and develop a team of educators to assure the implementation of thematic, place-based, experiential curriculum for field days and evening programs
• Work with visiting groups to develop customized, high-quality, place-based education programs for adult, family, and/or youth residential and nonresidential programming
• Assist with administrative duties necessary for high quality programs and efficient customer service
• Fulfill faculty on call responsibilities
• Oversee operations and risk management of all programs facilitated by the Kelly Campus
40% Graduate Program Coaching
• Teach, coach, and mentor graduate students in the development of pedagogical, leadership, and instructional skills and the implementation of thematic, place-based, experiential curriculum for field days and evening programs
• Manage graduate program administrative responsibilities including scheduling, advising, and assessment
10% One TSS Responsibilities
• Collaborate with institutional and external partners regarding shared programs, resources, systems, staff, and curriculum
• Serve on institutional committees in support of TSS Strategic Plan
• Attend Kelly Campus faculty meetings and trainings
• Support cross-organizational initiatives as needed
