Overview:

We are looking for a team player excited to advance KidsGardening’s efforts to create opportunities for all children to learn, play, and grow through the garden. KidsGardening provides garden grants and original educational materials to more than 2.6 million kids across the country.
We are seeking an Education Specialist to serve as a youth gardening and garden-based learning expert responsible for co-developing and implementing KidsGardening’s educational content strategy as well as supporting youth garden grant administration and the Kids Garden Community.
This is a contracted position at 20-30 hours per week with the potential to develop into a full-time staff position in 2022.

Skills & Experience
Required:
- Experience working in a diversity of settings, e.g., public schools, community gardens, urban communities, rural communities, under-resourced communities, New American communities, Native American reservations, or Black communities
- Five plus years of experience working in school and/or youth garden programs as an educator or coordinator
- Experience producing high quality educational materials for garden education
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team
- Ability to think big picture to strategize and plan as well as perform routine daily tasks
Preferred:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Dropbox, and Canva
- Comfort with social media, including Instagram Live, IGTV, and Facebook Live
Programs (100%)
Educational Content (60%)
Draw on experience, data, and the expertise of the KidsGardening Content Team to develop and implement a comprehensive annual educational content strategy for our broad and diverse national audience of more than 40,000, including:
- Curriculum books
- E-books
- Activities and Lesson Plans
- Webinars
- Trainings
- Blogs
- Video
Write, edit, format, and publish educational content
Develop and oversee curriculum marketing plan
Kids Garden Community Engagement (20%)
Engage with members of the Kids Garden Community by contributing new conversations, advice, resources, and encouragement; build relationships and gather information to guide the youth gardening movement.
Grant Administration (10%)
Support Programs team in the design of grant programs
Aid with the evaluation of grant applications
Outreach (10%)
Participate in interviews, events, and conferences on behalf of KidsGardening
Specifics
- Office space is available in Burlington, Vermont, but remote work anywhere in the United States is possible
- This is a contract position for 20-30 hours per week during normal business hours
- Some travel will be required
- Pay will range from $30-$35 per hour dependent on experience
