Overview:
Intern will be hired to work with a certified teacher from local K-12 grade educational institutions and park staff to develop and test resource material related to teacher information packets. Each packet would involve developing pre-visit and post-visit activities, information sheets containing a list of appropriate curriculum, lessons, activities, and demonstrations that would help convey concepts that correlate with Alabama Educational Standards. A minimum of 8 education programs will be created focusing on 2nd, 4th, 7th and 11th grades. Selected intern will also be responsible for coordinating with the Government Printing Office and park staff for the professional printing and bounding of the education packets and teaching the staff how to best present the newly developed programs.
Direct Hiring Authority positions will last 11 weeks
Age 18 to 35
Possess US citizenship or permanent residence
Be enrolled in a post-secondary educational program or have graduated from college within the past year
Have a strong interest — or relevant experience — in areas pertaining to — but not limited to — history, historic preservation, public history, museum studies, archaeology, cultural interpretation, landscape architecture, anthropology or other related fields.
Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) -- helpful and more needed for some positions
Be social media savvy!

Compensation Information:
DHA-RA interns will receive a weekly stipend of $480 based on a 40-hour workweek, plus a commuting stipend. Local or park housing and travel expenses will be provided for out-of-state students.
