Primary Purpose
Coordinate and manage the educational activities of the Idaho Museum of Natural History.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, implement and evaluate Museum’s educational programs
- Recruit and supervise docents, volunteers, and student educators
- Develop and write proposals for inquiry-based education activities and resources
- Collaborate with school districts and other members within the broader STEM ecosystem
- Advise staff on education content for exhibits, events and programs
- Visit Idaho schools to present natural history programs to students
- Willing to work weekends and after hours for events
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Expertise in preparing and delivering cross-disciplinary science education
- Experience with best practices in teaching and learning, especially for K-8 learners.
- Excellent communication skills working with colleagues, the public, teachers and learners.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully mentoring others, formally or informally, such as volunteers, interns, or other relevant staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in the fields of Education or sciences
- Demonstrated experience in grant writing
- Experience in informal education, e.g. zoos or museums
