As the Animal Care Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center (CEWC), this person is responsible for daily husbandry of the CEWC animal collection (reptiles, amphibians, birds of prey, fish, and invertebrates), and the recruitment, training and oversight of the CEWC volunteers.

Animal care includes feeding, cleaning enclosures, basic medical treatments, scheduling animals for use in programs, and upkeep of daily records. Volunteer supervision includes soliciting individuals or groups for tasks, keeping track of opportunities and tasks, and assigning volunteers to the appropriate staff for task completion. The incumbent will work directly under the supervision of the Training and Development Specialist Supervisor.

Other responsibilities include supporting education programs, inventory and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and purchasing food, supplies and materials.
