Overview:

Goshen College invites applications for a full-time (10-month) tenure-track appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Environmental Education, starting July 2023. This appointment includes coordinating the Master’s of Arts in Environmental Education (MAEE) program, based at the college’s Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center, 40 minutes southeast of the main campus.

Goshen College is a student-centered, teaching-focused institution located in northeast Indiana. The MAEE is a unique 11-month immersive graduate program aimed at creating the next leaders in the environmental education field. Our students are highly motivated, and we value robust collaboration within our faculty community and also between faculty and students. We will prioritize candidates who have demonstrated interest and creativity around interdisciplinary collaboration and coalition-building. A history of collaborative grants (whether governmental or foundation-based) would be a strong indicator of that capability.

This position supports the missions of Goshen College and Merry Lea by providing leadership for the MAEE program, teaching graduate courses including Principles of Environmental Education and International Environmental Education, and teaching undergraduate courses in the department of sustainability and environmental education (SEED) related to the candidate’s areas(s) of expertise within the fields of environmental education and sustainability. As MAEE coordinator, this position leads curriculum development, delivery, and assessment, participates in graduate student recruitment efforts in cooperation with Goshen College Admissions, serves as academic advisor and professional mentor of MAEE students, supports learning community dynamics of MAEE cohorts, and assists with SEED planning and budget development. The position also includes contracted time for research or other professional activities.
