Overview:
We are seeking an energetic and passionate education professional with knowledge of inquiry-based teaching pedagogies, environmental education best practices, and Next Generation Science Standards. The Program Specialist will design and implement watershed and environmental education professional training programs for pre-service teachers, interns, and volunteers, and develop and evaluate community programs that increase watershed literacy and stewardship within the Inland Valley.
The Program Specialist is responsible for developing curriculum, training programs, and partnerships that increase watershed literacy within the District’s service area through the Waterwise Community Center's programming.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Developing curriculum and evaluation tools for K-12, community science, adult education, service-learning, and professional training programs that build watershed literacy and bring cultural relevancy to programming;
• Training and mentoring pre-service teachers, volunteers, interns, and staff members to support K-12 and public programming;
• Identifying and pursuing strategic partnership and grant funding opportunities by developing relationships and facilitating meetings with community stakeholders and school administrators;
• Coordinating and involving community members and stakeholders in the development of interpretative signage and public education programming for urban greening projects;
• Assisting with coordination of public events and contributing to outreach materials and website maintenance
