Overview:

This is a multiple task position that integrates knowledge and skills associated with communication, outreach and education, administrative management, and natural resource conversation.

The position requires a candidate that is detail and outcome oriented, well-organized, able to handle a fast-paced work environment, skilled at multi-tasking, works well in a dynamic team environment and has exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. This is a high public visibility position that requires exceptional professional standards for public service and community engagement.

The position will be supervised by and report directly to the Director of Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program (PPBEP). The position is responsible for broad administrative and communication functions of the Perdido Bays Estuary Program.

Examples of Duties 

  • Works with Director, Policy Board, and key committee stakeholders to develop and implement an integrated Strategic Communications Policy and Plan to include branding, media relations, and communications
  • Uses Federal and State (Alabama and Florida) guidelines to develop policy framework for public and working level communications.
  • Outlines the strategic messaging priorities and goals for Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program (PPBEP) operations
  • Management, direction, and message alignment for all internal and external communications; works with PPBEP Committee and outside stakeholders to increase PPBEP visibility by developing and coordinating PPBEP outreach, public engagement and education activities throughout both the Pensacola and Perdido watersheds in both Alabama and Florida
  • Develops and implements the PPBEP social media program to assure a robust, flexible, and secure online presence 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Training and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in communications, education, environmental science, or related field, and at least three years working in a professional setting

Licensing Requirements:

  • valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience involved in classroom teaching, community outreach, educational program management and/or marketing, strategic and direct media communications, public relations, or natural resources conservation.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Pensacola and/or Perdido watersheds and their environmental/human communities and issues.
  • Knowledge of and experience with any of the National Estuary Programs
