Camp Program Specialist – YMCA Camp at Horsethief Reservoir
Y Camp at Horsethief Reservoir is located about ten miles east of Cascade, Idaho, where we have 415 acres of rugged wilderness. Approximately four hundred yards of spectacular waterfront along the two-mile long reservoir provide us with room for swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding, and fishing, and we operate a high ropes course and one-of-a-kind, Idaho-shaped climbing tower as our high adventure activities on camp property. In addition to our traditional camp programs, Y Camp at Horsetheif Reservoir hosts Outdoor Education for 5th and 6th graders, corporate retreats and conferences, team building, weddings, and more.

The Camp Program Specialist will assist the with the year-round operations YMCA Camp at Horsethief Reservoir. This position will function as a point person and provide leadership through planning, organizing, supervising and facilitating participants, other staff, and volunteers in a variety of outdoor programs. In addition, the specialist will facilitate and implement appropriate educational curriculum for assigned program areas including outdoor education, ropes/challenge courses, waterfront, team building, archery, biking, arts/crafts, outdoor living, climbing, and general outdoor/indoor activities. This position will also support the housekeeping, kitchen, and maintenance areas as needed.
Key Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience OR Bachelors Degree in relevant field.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Experience working with youth.
- Ability to live on site during scheduled program times.
- Must be able to meet YMCA transportation requirements.
- Wilderness First Aid Certificate preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Job requires ability to walk, stand, sit (including on the ground), bend, lean, and kneel in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must have ability to lead and participate in physically strenuous activities in a high altitude outdoor wilderness environment.
Schedule Requirements:
- This is a full-time, year-round position.
- Candidates must have the ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week and live at YMCA camp facilities in Cascade, Idaho during program delivery.
- Regular nights and weekends are required.
