Overview:
The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is seeking 22 Camp Counselors for their summer camp season. The Camp Counselor position is responsible for the health and safety of all campers that attend OMSI Summer Science Camps.
The ideal candidate must have, but not limited to:
Ability to communicate and direct small and large groups.
Flexibility in weekly schedules and daily programming.
Understanding of confidentiality and protocol.
Professional communication skills, both written and oral.
Strong organization and problem solving skills
Good customer service skills.
Ability to work with a team to share responsibilities throughout the day.
Experience working with youth in an outdoor setting.
Be at least 16 years of age as of June 1st, 2016.
Be able to provide logistics and facility support in rotation with peers, which includes cleaning, instruction, food service, and other tasks deemed necessary for successful camp operation by the manager.
Current First Aid/CPR Card (Valid through August 31st)
Pass all pre-employment checks, such as criminal background check, fingerprinting, reference checks, American Camp Association (ACA) background checks (& on annual basis).
For drivers: Valid driver’s license, with three years of driving experience and must pass pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
Current Lifeguard Certification and/or current WFR, working knowledge of outdoor leadership skills, previous experience as a camp counselor and Bilingual– Spanish/English is preferred.

Compensation Information:
Pay Rate: $25 - $35 per day. Room and board are provided during programming.
