Forest Folk is a fully outdoor early childhood program in Amherst, Massachusetts. We will be welcoming children ages 3 to 6 years old to our program this March. Our program is a half-day program, with children in our care from 9:00 to 1:00 daily. We are hiring an Assistant Teacher who values play, inquiry-based learning, nature-based learning, and holds an image children as strong, curious, and capable.
This position is a 28 hour per week role. The ideal candidate will be comfortable co-leading prepared learning experiences for children ages 3 to 6, co-planning emergent curriculum experiences, and will be proactive in cleaning and preparing the outdoor classroom each day.
As an outdoor program, inspired by the forest kindergartens that originated in Denmark, Sweden, and Germany we seek a staff member passionate about learning through nature. The ideal candidate will have a background as a naturalist, with experience in plant and wildlife identification.
