Overview:

Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge is recruiting for an AmeriCorps Environmental Education Coordinator to serve 9/1/2022-7/15/2023. 

Key Duties: The Coordinator conducts activities directly with students during the indoor time at the Refuge's Environmental Education Center. They also explore Refuge trails with student to provide information and conduct outdoor activities. The Coordinator conducts off-site science based programming in local schools. The Coordinator recruits, trains, and coordinates environmental education program volunteers. The Coordinator plans and implements teacher workshops. The Coordinator will review and evaluate current education center activities and will adapt activities for different grade levels and science standards. The Coordinator will assist in special events like the annual Nisqually Watershed Festival. The Coordinator will serve alongside watershed partners to provide specialized environmental education programming for under-served students in the Nisqually and Chehalis Watersheds

Job Compensation:

Stipend

Compensation Information:

  • Living stipend of 2,785.90/month per month (before taxes)
  • Basic health insurance (not including vision coverage, and for full-time service terms only)
  • Up to a $6,495 education award that can be used for future schooling or to pay off existing qualified student loan debt (upon successful completion of the service term, subject to federal tax)
  • Student loan forbearance and interest accrual payment on qualifying loans
