Growing Gardens is a Boulder based non-profit organization established in 1998 with the mission to enrich the lives of the community through sustainable urban agriculture. Growing Gardens helps people experience a direct, deep connection with food, the land and each other through our programs for diverse populations: the Children’s Peace Garden, Community Classes, Community Gardens, and Cultiva Youth Project. Job Status: Part- Time, 15-20 hours per week

Reports To: Executive Director

Job Purpose:

The Administrative Assistant will help streamline organizational efficiency by performing ongoing administrative tasks.

These tasks include:

  • input into our database
  • generating, printing and mailing letters
  • generating and sending invoices to program participants
  • following up on payments for programming
  • website updates
  • prepare registration sheets for children’s programs and community classes
  • generating and sending confirmation letters to program registrants
  • assisting in volunteer coordination by receiving volunteer emails and calls and assigning volunteers to pre-scheduled tasks, and following up with volunteers
  • responding to various requests from our team- these vary depending on season and project
  • communicating with the public through emails and phone calls

Required Qualifications

  • High degree of computer proficiency, including experience with word, excel and database management
  • Exceptional relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication skills (public speaking, recruiting, interacting with partners from other non-profits, email and phone communication)
  • Successful project management skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize short and long term tasks and projects
  • Ability to commit to a part-time position for at least one year.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a small staff
  • Ability to positively interact with volunteers, interns, youth, people with disabilities and the general public on a daily basis
  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple, high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment

Major Functions and Accountability

  • Reports to Executive Director
  • Coordinates with other Growing Gardens staff to fulfill administrative tasks for the everyday efficiency of the organization

Preferred Weekly Schedule

Monday- Thursday 9am- 2pm or 8:30am- 1:30pm

Compensation Information:

This position is paid hourly. Hours are kept at 20 per week. Some weeks may be fewer hours- closer to 15 hours. Pay is $14 per hour.
