Through this program, the Internship Program participant will gain experience and hands-on training in the field of wildlife rehabilitation. The Intern is also introduced to basic medical skills including bandaging, laboratory analysis, fluid therapy and other subjects pertinent to wildlife rehabilitation. Interns in this program are supervised by five wildlife rehabilitators and the staff veterinarian. This position is challenging and requires participants be enthusiastic, self-motivated, etc.
The Wildlife Impact Management Section is seeking an energetic and motivated candidate to coordinate the Exotic Pet Amnesty Program and assist with education and outreach initiatives related to nonnative fish and wildlife. Primary duties will include facilitating the rehoming of nonnative fish and wildlife kept as pets through the FWC’s Exotic Pet Amnesty Program, tracking surrender and adoption reports in the database, answering calls and emails from the Exotic Species Hotline and emails.

Participants in the 6- month Animal Husbandry internship program will gain experience in several fields such as husbandry, aquatic life support systems, animal enrichment, and education outreach.
