Overview:
The AmeriCorps member will contact 3rd & 4th grade teachers in Grays Harbor County and invite them to participate in the Shorebird Sister Schools Program - a series of 6 classroom presentations, a field trip to the Refuge, and a 7th presentation post field trip. The member will schedule the presentations and field trips. The first presentations will be completed by the end of the calendar year. The member will continue with classroom presentations January to mid-April. Field trips will be help mid-April to mid-May during the spring shorebird migration. A follow-up presentation for each class will take place mid-May through the end of the school year. The member will organize and manage the Shorebird Festival Poster Contest & Fun Fair. The member organizes 12 hands on activities for the fun fair and recruits volunteers. The poster contest is open to all 1-6 graders in GH County. Fliers, judges, prizes, & ceremony are run by the member. The member serves on the Festival Planning committee.
