Mission

The mission of LEEF is to promote environmental education in Florida at all levels and through a variety of methods and resources.

Goals & Objectives

• To promote community-based support for environmental education programs at all levels.
• To increase positive governmental action on environmental issues.
• To increase community involvement with the environment through education.
• To facilitate communication among environmental educators
• To use education as a change mechanism toward a sustainable society.

Current Initiatives 

LEEF promotes environmental education in Florida at all levels and through a variety of methods and resources. In addition to being the Florida affiliate for NAAEE, LEEF enjoys collaborating with our neighboring states through the Southeast Environmental Education Alliance (SEEA). LEEF is currently working with several partners in the state on the  Florida Environmental Literacy Plan (FELP) and is playing a key role in implementing the Professional Development of Teachers and Nonformal Educators section of the plan.

LEEF promotes environmental education in Florida by providing:

• Local and statewide professional networking ­
• A website providing information on Florida specific environmental education resources, events, and organizations
• Workshops, field trips, and events
• Mini-grants to support environmental education activities and programs
• Annual conferences with concurrent sessions, workshops, exhibitors, networking, and fun!
