The Staff Instructor is a seasonal, full-time member of the professional education team for IslandWood. During the school year, the Staff Instructor will teach each week in alignment with established curriculum while ensuring culturally responsive instruction to engage all learners.
The Manager enhances the IslandWood EEC program’s capacity to implement the current EEC program, manage recruitment processes, and take on a leadership role on the programs, recruit students to its graduate program by assessing current recruiting systems and strategies and making recommendations, based on experience and knowledge of best practices, to improve the number, caliber and quality of inquiries and applications submitted by prospective students.
IslandWood’s Urban School Programs engage students in their home environments and dig deep into how built and natural systems work in tandem. Our programs seek to cultivate understanding of the complexity of urban systems to give learners the tools to generate solutions that lead to resilient, healthy, and thriving communities. For the 2022 spring season, our programs will be delivered via multiple formats as we restart our field programs. Our current plan is to resume on-site programs at the Brightwater Education Center in Woodinville, at parks in Seattle and at other sites beginning in March 2022 depending on current COVID conditions and restrictions.

In doing so, each person comes to understand their ability to change the world for the better. IslandWood operates traditional day camp programs for campers 4 years-old through those entering 9th grade. Running from mid-June through mid-August, these experiences directly address IslandWood’s mission of inspiring lifelong learning and environmental and community stewardship.

In doing so, each person comes to understand their ability to change the world for the better. At the Brightwater Center, IslandWood operates traditional day camp programs for campers entering 1st grade through those entering 6th grade. Running from July through mid-August

This position will support IslandWood staff in building school-specific resources, supporting teacher training, leading school-based planning sessions with teachers and neighborhood walking field trips with students.
This educator will work almost entirely in Tacoma, Washington.
