Overview:
The Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center is recruiting for an outreach and visitor contact seasonal volunteer for this winter January – April (with some flexibility in dates). Duties include staffing the front desk, opening and closing the visitor center, creating weekly environmental education kits for the public, assisting with environmental education programs, and other outreach efforts.
For this position, we provide:
- Roundtrip airfare
- Free housing
- Up to $175 in reimbursement for food costs per week.
- A government vehicle for transportation to work, stores, and limited personal use while volunteering.

REQUIREMENTS: • U.S. Citizenship • Valid drivers' license; completion of required online Defensive Driving course (can be accomplished on site) • Willingness to undergo a required criminal history background check • Work on weekends and some holidays • Ability to interact with a diverse public, USFWS staff, and volunteers of all ages in a professional manner. Ability to work with minimal supervision and on a team • Enthusiasm and desire to assist visitors in connecting with nature
