Overview:

The Ogden Nature Center is a nonprofit nature education center and nature preserve.  Our mission is to unite people with nature and nurture appreciation and stewardship of the environment.  We are recruiting 1 AmeriCorps members for 11 months of service to begin January 22, 2018. Flexible start date.

This position offers a unique opportunity to learn about and practice a wide range of skills including teaching, curriculum development and environmental education. 

Responsibilities Include:

Onsite School Programs - Schedule and conduct environmental education programs for school children; assist in the development of curriculum, activities and exhibits.

Develop and conduct preschool, home school and after school programs.

Provide programs for groups with special needs, such as underserved populations, elderly and developmentally disabled.

Community Education - assist with community program development, implementation, and strengthen community awareness.

Summer Camps – Assist in camp planning and implementation

Events – Assist with planning and organization of special events

Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications:

College graduate; science or teaching degrees preferred

Interested in environmental education and conservation

Love working and being outdoors

Articulate and an excellent writer

Computer proficient (Word, Excel, email)

Interested in pursuing a career in environmental education, conservation or land management

Excited to be an AmeriCorps National Service Member with the Utah Conservation Corps.

Requirements:

US citizenship or lawful permanent residency

 A valid driver’s license

 Ability to perform strenuous outdoor work,

 Ability to make 1700 hr (January 23rd – December 15th) commitment. This requires a 37-40 hour a week schedule during our regular business hours and occasional evening and weekend
