Overview:

Responsibilities Include:

  • Have a lead role in habitat restoration and noxious weed management
  • Plan and lead volunteers in planting and seeding project areas, release of biocontrol agents, as well as the mechanical removal of weeds through digging, mowing and pruning
  • Record keeping, monitoring and report writing
  • Assist with summer camps, homeschool, preschool, community programs, outreach and on-site school field trips
  • Assist with the planning and organizing of special events
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • College graduate; science or teaching degrees preferred
  • Interested in conservation and environmental education
  • Love working and being outdoors
  • Articulate and an excellent writer
  • Computer proficient (Word, Excel, email)
  • Interested in pursuing a career in conservation, land management or environmental education
  • Excited to be an AmeriCorps member

Requirements:

US citizenship or lawful permanent residency
 A valid driver’s license with a good driving record
 Ability to perform strenuous outdoor work
 Ability to make 1700 hour (January 20th – December 18th) commitment. This requires a 37-40 hour work week schedule during our regular business hours and occasional evening and weekends
 3 excellent references

Compensation Information:

Semi-monthly living allowance for a total of 1700 hours (11 months) of service totaling $15,000.00
Individual health insurance
$6,095.00 education award upon completion of service (to repay qualified student loans or use for education expenses)
On-site subsidized housing is available. Housing is a shared living space and with one to two other Ogden Nature Center educators. Private furnished bedroom in large farmhouse. The lease term runs the length of the AmeriCorps program. No pets allowed
