Overview:

Responsibilities Include:

  • Onsite School Programs - Schedule and conduct environmental education programs for school children; assist in the development of curriculum, activities and exhibits
  • Work with our outreach team to lead science education programming to first grade students throughout the state of Utah
  • Develop and conduct preschool, home school and after school programs.
  • Provide programs for groups with special needs, such as underserved populations, elderly and developmentally disabled
  • Community Education - assist with community program development, implementation, and strengthen community awareness
  • Summer Camps – Assist in camp planning and implementation
  • Events – Assist with planning and organization of special events
  • Create and film engaging environmental education clips for social media and the website.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Compensation Information:

  • Opportunity to develop job skills in environmental education and nonprofit fields
  • Semi-monthly living allowance for a total of 1700 hours (11 months) of service totaling $15,250
  • Individual health insurance
  • $6,195.00 education award upon completion of service (to repay qualified student loans or use for education expenses)
  • Federal student loan forbearance and interest accrual payment during term
  • Discounts at the Nest Gift Shop
  • On-site subsidized housing is available. Housing is a shared living space and with one to two other Ogden Nature Center employees. Private bedroom with minimal furnishing (bed and shelving) in large farmhouse. The lease term runs the length of the AmeriCorps program.
