Hi all! My name is Luis, and I am a member with the Sunrise Movement, a movement of young people fighting to stop the climate crisis and create millions of good jobs in the process.
If you know a student who cares about social justice, the environment, politics, or their community, you'll be interested to learn about our new national program to help students grow their leadership skills and fight for a liveable future. We call it: Sunrise Circles.
We are inviting middle and high schoolers across the country to create a Sunrise Circle with their classmates to learn about the climate crisis and the action necessary to stop it. Each week, Sunrise Circles will gather outside school to have a meeting. We will provide meeting agendas with short training videos for activities to do together and prep students to make meaningful change at school and in their communities.
It's a great way for students to develop an interest in current events and build a habit for civic responsibility that they'll carry with them for a lifetime.
Starting a Circle is simple:
(1) Find one student leader to be a Sunrise Circle Host -- they’re the person who’ll kick off the program. They can sign up at sunrisemovement.org/sunrise-circle-hs
(2) Once signed up, a Sunrise coach will reach out to help them with the first steps for starting their Sunrise Circle!
Please share this information about Sunrise Circles with your students and ask them to get started by following the steps above. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions. To learn more about Sunrise, go to our website, or sign up for our email list here.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
Luis Marchese
