The Nonformal Environmental Education Programs: Guidelines for Excellence were first published in 2004 and have been updated about every five years since then. We are in the process of revising these guidelines once again. The process is iterative. Our writing team developed a first draft. We invite you to review this draft and provide comments that will be used in the revision process.

This set of guidelines describes recommendations for developing and administering high quality environmental education programs. These recommendations provide a tool that can be used to ensure a firm foundation for new programs or demonstrate program value and trigger improvements in existing ones.
