Creating and Supporting Culturally Relevant Organizational Change

What an AMAZING virtual conference webinar which just took place online! Thank you, Rena, for sharing your thoughtful insights and experience in your inclusion and equity efforts! For those webinar attendees with follow-up questions, and those who are just clicking on this discussion thread out of curiosity, our eePro group is so fortunate to have Rena Payan, Program Manager of Youth Outside and who conducted the above titled webinar today, with us to answer any questions you might have about the Cultural Relevancy Series she described in her session and were conducted last year for non-profit organizations in the San Francisco Bay area. She is available to answer questions today and tomorrow (10/18/17-10/19/17)

NAAEE staff will soon have details about accessing the recorded webinar, but for now let's open up the discussion to any one who has follow-up questions for Rena, and for Rena to add any additional thoughts or topics of interest she did not get a chance to address...take it away gang!...and happy sharing:).....

Hi folks! I am so excited to have this forum to address any additional questions you may have from the webinar, or just about Youth Outside's Equity, Inclusion, and Cultural Relevancy work!

Let's start with some of the resources I shared in the webinar...
Youth Outside's Case Study of the Cultural Relevancy Series

You can find Youth Outside's Organizational survey as an examples of tools that support organizational conversations about Equity and Inclusion, inside the case study.

I also highly recommend the newest paper put out by Green 2.0. "Beyond Diversity, A roadmap to building an inclusive organization, you can find the executive summary here...

Lastly, I mentioned two great starting points for recognizing Unconscious BIas during the webinar. The first is the video we watched, which you can find here...

and the second was an episode (titles "The Culture Inside")from the podcast "Invisibilia", that you can listen to here...

Let's learn together!

Thanks for sharing these resources, Rena! If I'm not mistaken, I think one question from the webinar chat box that went unaddressed was regarding the use of inclusive language in job titles and job descriptions. Paraphrasing the question from my recollection..."How would one work with co-workers or an administration that does not understand the current use of exclusive language on existing job descriptions?"
